OVERVIEW OF MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK 

Murchison Falls National Park lies at the northern end of the Albertine Rift Valley, where the sweeping Bunyoro escarpment tumbles into vast, palm-dotted savanna. First gazetted as a game reserve in 1926, it is Uganda’s largest and oldest conservation area, hosting 76 species of mammals and 451 birds.

The park is bisected by the Victoria Nile, which plunges 45m over the remnant rift valley wall, creating the dramatic Murchison Falls, the centerpiece of the park and the final event in an 80km stretch of rapids. The mighty cascade drains the last of the river’s energy, transforming it into a broad, placid stream that flows quietly across the rift valley floor into Lake Albert. This stretch of river provides one of Uganda’s most remarkable wildlife spectacles. Regular visitors to the riverbanks include elephants, giraffes and buffaloes; while hippos, Nile crocodiles and aquatic birds are permanent residents. Notable visitors to the park include Winston Churchill, Theodore Roosevelt, Ernest Hemingway and several British royals. 

DETAILED ITINERARY 

Day 1: Kampala-Murchison Falls National Park-Rhino Tracking-Top of the Falls

You will meet members of our Team at National theatre at 7:30. You will have a briefing about the Safari and then head north to Murchison Falls National Park, driving through the famous Luwero triangle. You will then 

proceed to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for Rhino Tracking. After you will have Lunch at the Ziwa Restaurant (at own cost) and then proceed to the park. You will enter through the southern bank and check in, then proceed to  Pakwach at the hotel. Dinner and overnight and overnight will be at Leosim Hotel 

Travel Time: About 6.5hours. 

Day 2: Morning Game Drive, Top of the Falls

You will have breakfast at 6am and then at 6:30 am, head out for an early morning game drive. You will drive through the northern bank of the park in search of various animals including Elephants, Buffaloes, Bushbucks, Lions, Leopards, Giraffes, Hartebeests and a variety of bird species. 

You will go for Lunch at 1:00 and then at 1:00 pm, have an afternoon  boat cruise then proceed to the top of the Falls. You will view the scenic Falls and see where the Nile explodes to become a placid river with rainbow colours. You will have time to enjoy the view and sounds of world’s most powerful waterfall, take pictures and videos of the Falls to keep the memories alive.

Day 3: Early morning breakfast then transfer from Murchison Falls National Park to Kampala
